Common Sense Is More Valuable Than Anything On Your Resumé

The fact that you can't teach or learn common sense makes it that much more valuable of a commodity.  The most successful people I know aren't necessarily the smartest, most skilled, or even hardest working.  They are people who have sense.  They're people that have their priorities in order.  They're people you don't have to explain stuff to.  They're people that are decisive and take initiative.  They're people who don't make things more complicated.  They're people that see what needs to be done and they do it (And they don't run their mouths about it).  They're people who take a genuine interest in others.  They're people who don't make the same mistakes over and over.  They're people who aren't constantly referred to as "morons" behind their backs.  They're also the people who don't constantly refer to others as "morons".

Common sense has gotten me a hell of a lot further in life than any degree, experience, or skill on my resumé.  We have got to figure out how to teach common sense.
